I read that a group called “Bikers for Trump” gathered outside the vote counting center in Broward County to show their support for the Trump’s candidates. The mid-terms may have gone badly for the President (whatever he says!), but his has the enduring loyalty of these and other bikers.
One of the Bikers who, however, came in a pickup truck, cheered on the demonstrators by playing Trump speeches through his sound system, like the Nazis of old broadcasting speeches of their leader.
Trumpie has reverted to his playground self and labeled Stormy Daniels “horseface.” The man is as lacking in wit as he is in decency. This is yet another manifestation of what a piece of childish white trash Trump is.
And now, he is in denial on behalf of the Saudi death squad. I suppose a man who has trained himself constantly and completely to ignore his own misdeeds can extend that courtesy to his bloody business partners.
I was struck by two items from today’s internet reading. The first was an essay by Michael D’Antonio entitled “Trumpism is Winning.” If you’re feeling a bit buoyant, read this essay and it will bring you right down. The second piece was a report of the rape and murder of investigative journalist Victoria Malinova in Bulgaria. My linking these two items is idiosyncratic, I suppose, but it struck me that what happened to Ms Malinova is where we are heading under Trump and a militant male chauvinism. The Kavanaugh business has been a truth serum for Trump. In the course of it he has again and again and in more and more ways manifested his sniveling hatred for women. Someone should slap him silly. But no one even bothers to denounce him. Trumpian obscenities have become accepted, even embraced in our society and he is enabling and inviting the rest of the patriarchal cohort to crawl out of the shadows and come to the rally.
So now we have a perjurer on the Supreme Court, a compulsive liar in the White House, and a gang of con-men in the Senate. I guess this is the Devil’s Triangle.
Trump was ready, I’m told, to pay Dr. Ford $160,000 for her silence, but since the senators are on a retainer there was no need for Trump’s money. So the taxpayers have been boofed and must pay the bill. This is enough to make me want to ralph. And the show is just beginning, as Trump rouses up the misogyny and expansive ignorance of his base, many of whom like beer too.
In a recent press conference, Trump informed the world that Michael Avenatti is a “lowlife,” and that the matter of Christine Ford et al. is a “con game.” This gives me pause, for I had no bad opinion of Michael Avenatti nor of Christine Ford et al. But when Trump, who usually does not know what he’s talking about talks about lowlife and con game, I have to listen, for his own life has been lowlife and con game little else.
So Trumpie is going to cancel the security clearances of his critics, even of the ones, I understand, who have no security clearance. Again, we have evidence that “our Favorite President,” has never left the playground. Little Donald, neglected to the point of scorn at home, had hoped that his brilliance and heroic character would be given due attention and esteem on the playground. But it didn’t work out that way for the kid whom nobody likes. Now he’s really mad and is gonna get even with those doubters, even if he has to make a fool of himself to do it.
The announced “summit” between Trump and Putin was arranged without informing those democracies that were once our allies. First the rigged election, then America’s unilateral abandonment of the environment, then the G6 where Trump invited the rogue Russians without consulting the others, then the endless Trumpian denials of any significant Russian tampering in his election, next the continuing Republican attack on the Special Counsel, Justice Dept., and any other agency that might bring Trump to justice, and now the secret summit at which Trump will sign over the USA to Putin.
Why does Trump, why does America cow-tow to Putin? Did Putin once sodomize Trump, a fact too embarrassing to be known by any? Does Russia own Trump financially? Trump never has worked well with money. Are the Republicans forcing a rapprochement with Russia …?
However unlike the last sounds, it may be the closest to the truth. The entire drift of right-wing politics since the election and re-election of Obama has been counter democratic, not counter Democratic, but counter democratic, i.e., contrary to democracy itself. We have seen clearly that large numbers of frightened Americans would rather be ruled by a dishonest strong man supported by a spineless, mindless Congress than share power with non-whites and non-Christians, and are willing to be sold out to the Russian Empire to maintain the status quo.
The Trumpite base make me think of King Herod. He knew that a child was being born who was “to rule my people Israel.” (He had to learn this from the chief priests and scribes, since he did not himself read.) From the priests he learned where the future ruler was to be born; from the Magi he learned when; and after being frustrated by the Magi’s treason, sent his own goons to find and “fix” the problem.
Statisticians tell us that soon the U.S. is to be a white minority country and thus at some foreseeable point white hegemony must end. The state religion, a debased Christianity, sees the ongoing crumbling of its own hegemony and swells up like a frog against it. America no longer a white country! America no longer a Christian (variously defined) country! Too much! We are the best armed country on earth, so …. Well, if we can’t just kill them, as we did the native Americans, let’s at least have an enforced shift of populations and drive them out.
Now in this scheme of things, Trump takes the place of Caesar. Caesar rules by exploiting fears, the fears of the televangelists, of religious fanatics, the fears of the decent but woefully undereducated people, the fears of unrepentant racists, even the fears of over-age hippies. Thus he divides and re-divides the people, to make them serve his ends.
I hope my little allegory does not amount to trivialization, for we are in desperate times. The inhumanity of some, the cowardice of many, the indifference of most are turning us into what we used to go to war to prevent. This cruelty, this selfishness, this willful ignorance will soon be punished by what we become.
What an uproar around children being kidnapped by the U.S. Government. Oh, Trumpie declares he will be resolute and continue to enforce these separations, heartily supported by Jeff Sessions and Trump’s real-life “my Roy Cohn,” Stephen Miller.
Kelly Ann Conway is hard put to explain how a Pro-Family President can split up families with such gusto. She argues it’s written in the law. But when has Trump ever cared about laws? Kelly Ann now must fall back on her famous maneuver, the What about …?, in this case asking: What about Herod?
Trump’s claim of an absolute right to pardon himself at first reminded me of the legal doctrine of crown immunity. It asserts “The King can do no wrong,” and is therefore immune from legal action. Problem is, of course, that Trump cannot invoke this principle because he is not a King, though he is too ready to arrogate to himself regal powers.
On second thought, Trump’s claim of the right of self pardon, so heartily seconded by the Pardon Party, sc., Giuliani, the Freedom Caucus, et al., seems closer instead to the allegation sometimes brought against sodomite priests in the Middle Ages, that after sodomizing one another they would seek absolution by confessing their sodomy to one another.
